2005 : beginnings of the TNT (digital TV process), first digital images dumping, new media machines seeping into our homes. Harnessed alarm and control thought by manipulation : eRikm bores the aerial.
Short-circuits make the system fail, throwing into the source, until TV screen crashes. The image, lived up by the distortion takes pictorial forms and colours.
Captured and taken off the flow, they appear like icons of an insidious society of “control”, that generates new mutants in free movement, introduced in the body of its media-supports.

Step 1
Musical scores from various musical genres, thrown blindly on the floor.

Step 2
These scores are then gathered together in balls with adhesive or
thread. The volume of the resulting spheres is variable.

Step 3
These spheres are proposed to various musicians who will play from the
musical notes that are visible to them on the surface of these spheres,
moving around the balls at their feet or in front of them.
This piece’s interpretation is open both as to the number of musicians,
and to their movements, whether temporal or spatial.

The guiding principle for this score is in the continuity of work on
graphic musical scores such as (construction/deconstruction)1999

"In every sound bend, I cannot help establishing the link with his facetious video « Depressive Fighter I and II », in which he appears, wearing a boxer’s helmet, producing vocal sounds while struggling with a compressor that sends air in his throat.
He composed two successive versions : the first one, "merely" a sequence shot, could amount to what he can do during " live" shows. The second one, very finely-worked from the reprocessed, filtered, modulated image and sound, would match what he’s just done with all these fragments that take in retrospect a new colour and another consistency."

Soundless installation, 800cm

Broken disks, stuck fragments, fractions doubled by a mirror, Staccato scans the space with a sound mass of dull rumbles. 888 vinyls for string instruments : it is the idea of a closed loop, blowing up into atoms remixed around a tight cable, reflecting the trajectory of a silent graphic wave.
Like an altar set for the sacrifice of “memory”, the piece plays with the object’s physical and symbolic properties : the vinyl, recording medium of a language both universal and specific, fetishistic icon of a “Barclay” generation, is also this relic from a time passed onto the scrap heap, the waste from mass production.
Staccato sculpts the section of a cultural inheritance, weakened and recycled.
